Fun in the Closet

I am in my 40s, I still want to enjoy fashion but I do not wish to emulate or “compete” with the 20 somethings. I find the process of creating outfits from what I have in my closet to be joyful. When I hit on something that reflects my mood and makes me happy about the way I look, that’s the best. I want all men and women to receive joy and confidence from the way they dress. I love to find that one piece that you have been “saving” or bought because you love it but don’t know what to do with it, and breathing life into it. That can be such a joyful experience.

Now, don’t get me wrong I love to shop as well. Ah, the hunt in the urban jungle. It brings me great joy. There is nothing wrong with that. I always have in my mind’s eye what I already have in my closet, which helps me to know if a new piece would fit it. This eliminates any need to shop for an entire outfit. I find that when you shop for and purchase items in an outfit that you only end up wearing those items in that outfit. If you can add a piece that works with what already exists it’s a much less expensive hunt.

Everyone has a body issue or a fit issue. We can often look at people and judge that their bodies are perfect and that if only we had their body we could succeed at looking and feeling good. The true secret is that the people we think are perfect and can wear anything, have their own issues, they have just learned (often through trial and error) what works for them and what doesn’t. If we forced them to put on the items that they would never choose we would find out that they too can look odd and awkward.

Let’s see if I can show you what I mean.
