The Weaver, The Jewelry Maker, The Potter and the Photographer in Turner Valley

I had the best time this weekend going to two events in Turner Valley. I started out at Cat’s Eye Jewelry Design where Linda, the creator, was having an open house at her home. It was a feast for the senses! Necklaces, bracelets and earrings were displayed in the beautiful setting of her home. In the kitchen the setting was just as mouth wateringly appetizing as she also treated all of us to glorious home made treats while we visited, played and chatted. This has to be one of my favourite ways to shop, so relaxed and no pressure. Since the designer is there you can ask what her inspiration was for each piece and she can tell you all about the stones that she has used in the pieces. This is my haul from that stop, I really didn’t want to leave.

From there I headed over to True North Fine Images for Wild Things. Debra Garside does amazing natural photography while she travels to beautiful destinations. She asked two fellow artist Elizabeth Ellis Weaving Wearable Art and Evonne Smulders a local pottery artist to interpret her photography in their medium. Wow, that was something to see and I fear I cannot truly do it justice in words. I could see the wild manes and tales of the wild horses, the dramatic black and white of the zebras and penguins and the myriad colours of the aurora borealis in the weavings turned into shawls, scarves, neck hugs, etc. The carved white pottery and the pottery with horse hair carbonized into patterns also reflected Deb’s photography. This is the one piece that I allowed myself from this venue.

Once I brought my treasures home it was my time to play and create. I like to invest in items for my wardrobe that have quality, longevity of style and can be used to create multiple outfits, both dressed up and down. The items that these creative designers/artists produce certainly fill that desire for me. These are just some of the ways that I already know that I can use my new pieces. These artists, their creations and their stories inspire me, fill me with awe and allow me to do what I do – dress people stylishly. Thank you for such a lovely day ladies.

Your creativity is definitely apparent in your purchases and the way you are mixing and matching them. I love the agate necklace with the new cape. Fantastic.
